Dear Teaneck Library patrons and community members,
I’m writing to provide a brief update on the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus on library services. This is an extraordinary time in our community, and library staff is doing everything possible to continue to deliver library services as safely and effectively as possible.
We encourage residents to make use of our extensive collection of digital resources, including books, audiobooks, comics, magazines, music, movies/TV, newspapers, and reference materials and journal articles. These materials can be accessed from the safety of your home during the library’s closure.
You can also find a variety of educational resources including Brainfuse, which offers free one-on-one tutoring and self-paced learning modules, and Mango Languages, an online language learning system that teaches real conversation skills for practical communication.
All that is needed to access these materials is a library card and a computer or mobile device with an Internet connection. If your library card was scheduled to expire during the month of March, the expiration date has automatically been extended to April 1. If your library card has already expired and you need access to library materials, please send an email to teancirc@teaneck.bccls.org.
If you do not have a Teaneck Library card, you can apply for one online. We will process the application remotely, you will be issued a library card number that can be used to access digital content, and then you will pick your library card up in-person when the library reopens to the public.
Physical books and other materials do not need to be returned to the library at this time. To conform with the Township of Teaneck’s voluntary self-quarantine, we urge patrons to keep library materials at home and wait to return them when the self-quarantine guidance has been lifted. All due dates of library materials will be automatically extended until the date that the library reopens.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by chat through our website; by phone (voice/text) at 201-817-9780; or email Patron Services at teancirc@bccls.org, Reference Department at reference@teaneck.bccls.org, or Youth Services at youth@teaneck.bccls.org. Staff are available Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and any messages we receive outside of those hours will be responded to as soon as possible.
For information on COVID-19, including how to protect yourself, and what to do if you think you’re sick, please visit the Center for Disease Control website or the New Jersey Department of Health website.
We will get through this together, Teaneck. Please be safe, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Allen McGinley
Library Director
