Dear Teaneck Public Library patrons and community members,
I am writing today to provide a brief update on current and upcoming library services, as we continue to move forward with the library’s phased plans for reopening.
On June 22, we began offering contactless doorside pickup of library materials to Teaneck residents. To date, we have checked out more than 26,000 print books and other physical materials, with a majority of these through safe, contactless doorside pickup. Effective Sunday, September 20, we will be expanding our hours for doorside and front desk pickup to:
- Monday – Thursday 9:30 AM – 8:30 PM
- Friday – Saturday 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Sunday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
We are also working on the implementation of several contactless services, which I expect to launch later this fall, including contactless checkout of library materials, and self-service printing and computer reservations, and payment of fines and fees. These upgrades improving the safety of our library for the entire community would not be possible without the generous support of the Friends of the Teaneck Public Library.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our outdoor “pop-up” library earlier this month. It is great to see our friends and neighbors browsing and borrowing books again. I’m happy to announce another outdoor “pop-up” event today 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A selection of materials for all ages will be available for browsing and checkout. Please be advised that you must have a library card present, wear a mask, and observe social distancing guidelines at all times.
We are also continuing to plan and develop safe, outdoor library programming. Join us on September 22 at 7:00 PM to explore the night sky with Pearl Observatory. Registration is still available for a limited number of participants. Masks will be required for attendance and social distancing guidelines must be observed at all times. The telescope eyepiece will be sanitized between families. Please bring a blanket or chair to relax in while your family waits its turn.
You can also join us for some fun stories, rhymes and sunshine outside Teaneck Library at our Outdoor Storytime (weather permitting) for age 0-3 on September 24 at 10:30 AM. Registration with a Teaneck library card is required. Please bring your own blanket to sit on. Masks will be required for attendance and social distancing guidelines must be observed at all times.
We are continuing to develop and improve our digital content collections, including downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines, and streaming music, movies, and TV shows. Visit the digital content page on our website and use your library card to get started today.
I greatly appreciate your patience, support, and dedication, as we continue to expand our virtual collections and programming, improve contactless in-person services, and prepare for a return to the new normal this fall.
I wish a happy and healthy Rosh Hashanah, to all those who celebrate!
