Teaneck Public Library is currently looking for someone to join our team in this entry-level position. Duties may include: sorting materials for shelving, discharging materials, shelving materials in correct order and answering directional questions. Pages should have the ability to sort and file alphabetically and numerically.

Responsibilities:

Follow oral and written directions in English. Sort and shelve materials in proper order. Assist staff in checking materials for damage and removing damaged items from the shelves. Adhere to library policies and procedures. Shelf read to assure materials are in proper order. Must be able to push/pull book carts filled with books, stand for long periods of time and bend, kneel and stretch to reach high and low shelves. Report to supervisor. Other duties as assigned.

Applicant should be able to work independently but also as part of a team. Applicants should project a positive attitude to the public and be able to learn routine library procedures. Applicants should be at least 16 years old and have the ability to learn the Dewey Decimal System and other library filing systems.

Hours of Work:

Part time. Weekly schedule includes evenings and weekends.
