Statement from the Library Director on Violence and Discrimination against Asian Americans

The recent murder of eight people – including six Asian American women – in Atlanta, Georgia is not an isolated incident, but part of a growing pattern of violence against Asian Americans since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic in March 2020.  According to a recent report from the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism, while overall hate crimes dropped by 7% in 2020, anti-Asian hate crimes increased by an incredible 149%.
