2022 Summer Reading Challenge
Teaneck Library’s Annual Summer Reading Challenge for all ages (teens, adults and children) begins on June 13! Log your reading at teanecklibrary.beanstack.org or via the Beanstack Tracker app June 13 through August 12 for a chance to win prizes and raffle tickets. Teaneck residents only.
The Summer Reading program is made possible by generous funding from the Friends of Teaneck Public Library. Photographs taken during summer reading events may be used for publicity.

Back to School Night for Grades 5-12 – Zoom
Wednesday, September 14 at 7pm
Teaneck parents and teens are invited to Teaneck Public Library’s Back to School Night. Youth Librarians will share information about the library’s many helpful (and free) resources for teens and families including online tutoring and study tools, curriculum support, volunteer opportunities, eBooks and audiobooks and programming. Following this brief overview, there will be an open Q&A session. Don’t have a library card? Don’t worry – we’ll cover that too!
Homeschool Back to School Night – Zoom

Teaneck’s homeschooling parents are invited to Teaneck Public Library’s Back to School Night. Youth Librarians will share information about the library’s many helpful (and free) resources for homeschooling families including group visits, study tools, curriculum support, eBooks and audiobooks and programming. Banned Books Week

Come to the library to learn more about Banned Books Week, check out titles that are frequently challenged, and join our book discussion for middle and high school aged students.
Banned Book Discussion: Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

Persepolis, a graphic novel memoir, is the story of the author’s life as a young woman growing up in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution. During our event we will discuss the story and the reasons why this book has been challenged. Reserve a copy at bccls.org to read in advance.
Banned Book Discussion: Drama by Raina Telgemeier

Drama is a graphic novel centered around a middle school theater production and the drama of teen life. It is widely challenged for LGBT inclusivity. During our event we will discuss the story and reasons the book has been challenged. Reserve a copy at bccls.org to read in advance.

Volunteer Orientation – Zoom
Thursdays July 7, August 4 & September 8 at 4pm – Register
Come and join us! Teens in grade 7 and up can get involved in the Library and earn community service credit. Attendance in one of our orientations and a complete volunteer application is required for participation.
Volunteer Opportunity: Drop-In Craft Time
Fridays, July 1 – August 26 from 9:30am-3:30pm – Apply
Assist prepping materials and helping kids create simple crafts in the Children’s Room. Registration required.
Volunteer Opportunity: Book Buddies – Apply
For the first time since 2019, Book Buddies is back in-person and better than ever! Our Teen Book Buddies are an essential part of Summer Programming here at Teaneck Library. From reading with kids to helping at craft programs and special events, our Book Buddies volunteer throughout the entire summer, earn valuable community service credit, and gain practical skills. Book Buddies is open to any student or teen resident in middle and high school. To apply, please fill out an application.
